Operational Language Analyst

Foundational Intelligence (FI) is seeking mission focused Operational Language Analysts in a variety of languages with all levels of experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform tasks required to process voice and/or graphic language materials in support of SIGINT operations.

  • Demonstrate skills recovering essential elements of information.

  • Render translations and/or transcripts that are complex and sophisticated written and/or spoken material.

  • Gist straightforward, factual written and/or spoken material.

Qualifications:

All Levels - Required:

  • Active TS/SCI with Poly;

  • Minimum of two (2) years full-time experience performing cryptologic language processing in the required language; and

  • Language test scores taken within the last two (2) years equivalent to the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Skill Level 2+ (minimum) in Listening OR Reading.

OLA Level 1 Qualifications:

  • 2 years full-time experience performing cryptologic language processing – scanning, recovering EEIs, gisting, translating/transcribing, compiling working aids and databases. With at least 1 year in which language tasks were the primary duty.

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from other countries.

  • Language test scores taken within the last two (2) years equivalent to the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Skill Level 2+ (minimum) in Listening OR Reading

OLA Level 2 Qualifications:

  • 4 years performing cryptologic language processing – translating/gisting sophisticated written and/or spoken materials and demonstrating all lower OLA skills. With at least 2 years in which language tasks were the primary duty.

  • Associate’s degree or 2 additional years of work experience

  • Language test scores taken within the last two (2) years equivalent to the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Skill Level 3 (minimum) in Listening OR Reading

OLA Level 3 Qualifications:

  • 10 years performing cryptologic language processing, related language, and/or cryptologic experience – QC’ing, mentoring, and demonstrating all lower OLA skills. With at least 6 years in which language tasks were the primary duty. 

  • 6 years of experience must be in the language appropriate to the desired role, including the following experiences:

    • 4 years performing cryptologic language processing

    • 3 years translating, transcribing, and gisting

    • 1 year experience QC’ing at ILR level 3 in target language

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 additional years of work experience 

  • Language test scores taken within the last two (2) years equivalent to the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Skill Level 3 (minimum) in Listening OR Reading 

OLA Level 4 Qualifications:

  • 15 years performing cryptologic language processing, related language, and/or cryptologic experience – demonstrating all lower OLA skills. With 8 years in which language tasks were the primary duty. 

  • 8 years of experience must be in the language appropriate to the desired role, including the following experiences:

    • 6  years performing cryptologic language processing

    • 5 years translating, transcribing, and gisting

    • 3 years experience QC’ing at both audio and graphic at ILR level 3 in target language

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 additional years of work experience 

  • Language test scores taken within the last two (2) years equivalent to the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Skill Level 3 (minimum) in Listening AND Reading 

These positions are contingent on funding and may not be filled immediately. However, these details are representative of positions within FI that are frequently available. Individuals who apply may also be considered for other positions at FI.

Compensation:

The proposed salary ranges for each level are:

  • OLA1: $80,000-$100,000

  • OLA2: $100,000-$160,000

  • OLA3: $160,000-$220,000

  • OLA4: $220,000-$300,000

Many factors influence the final salary offered, such as geographic location, labor category, skills, and prior experience.
